IS THIS TRIP FOR YOU?
We recommended this trip for healthy and fit travellers who are willing to do manual labour (no building experience required)
You may witness extreme poverty and hear stories of abuse which can be overwhelming for some. Many emotions may arise, therefore emotional resilience is required.
You must be flexible, have patience and be adaptable as this is Africa and sometimes ( a lot of the time) things don’t go as we plan. We call it TIA ‘This is Africa’. You will be in a group dynamic, therefore, being able to manage your emotions and treat others kindly and with respect is essential.
If you want your heart to be ripped open, experience another culture in a way that wouldn't be possible travelling on your own, give back selflessly to others who need it most, meet life long friends, learn, grow and stretch then this is the trip for you.
In addition to the cost for the trip, we ask our volunteers to raise a minimum of $1200 each to contribute towards the projects. This is an integral part of our trip as you get to inspire others in your community to be in service, challenge yourself and see first hand how the money you raise directly effects a life.
100% of the money you raise goes toward our partner charities and will be used to fund the volunteer projects you work on. In addition to the $1200 that you raise, you can continue raising extra money, also helping fund your trip.
Projects are decided from individual needs of the communities themselves to ensure
your fundraising efforts create sustainable growth and maximum impact
TREE PLANTING - We have partnered with Food and Tree for Africa where we will spend a day planting over 100 native and fruit trees. Trees are vital to the health of the planet by removing C02 from the atmosphere. Trees also provide sustainable food to the people of Africa.
DISABLED HOME - Our charity partner, Kindling Foundation supports a disabled home of 35 with severe disabilities. Last year the home was provided with brand new beds and wheelchairs by the previous volunteers. You will get to spend time with these kids, teenagers and adults who are in need of some laughter and love. Our team will deliver food and clothes to their home.
DENNILTON PRE-SCHOOL - This preschool was built last year by volunteers and run by Kindling Foundation. You will be planting a vegetable garden to help sustainably feed the kids at the school. Your fundraising will fund the veggie patch and sustainable food program.
MARIA’S HOME REVAMP - Maria Gaba, a local African woman with a big heart, has taken in over 40 children into her home, taking them off of the streets. Her home is in desperate need of some love. You will be spending a day improving the home by volunteering your time and putting in new floors, beds for the kids, cupboards and fixing the wall structures. Your fundraising will be supporting this project.
Is a not-for-profit organisation founded to empower the growing South African township of Windmill Park − a community built on an ethos of enduring human kindness. The establishment of Windmill Park has transformed the lives of hundreds of people in need, helping to end cycles of poverty and abuse through access to safety, education and employment. They work in partnership with the community to support and scale its operations so that its positive effects will continue to permeate across the region. The growing impact of Windmill Park is proof that a little good can go a long way.
